Select a tab below to access direct download options for individual fire data bundles, annual state and national-level burn severity mosaics or national shapefiles for burned area boundaries and fire occurrences.
Please note when a fire year is missing from the query results list, there are no published fires for that year and region.
MTBS provides geospatial web services as another method to access the national MTBS datasets. Fire boundaries and points are available as ArcGIS map services primarily for map visualization. These services are also available as a WMS service for users requiring an OGC-compliant connection.
The burn severity data are provided as ArcGIS map services and as image services. The image services are time-enabled and are provided for users interested in performing analysis directly with the data. The ArcGIS map services are available for users who need the data primarily for mapping visualization. These map services are also available as a WMS service for users requiring an OGC-compliant connection. The GetCapabilities URL can be used to obtain information about the published service. The KML links provide access to an interface that allows you to add the data for selected years to create a customized KML.
The MDE provides a link to a GEE-based application to dynamically explore and visualize MTBS burn severity data, generate charts and tabular summaries as well as observed trends. Please also note a delay of approximately 2 weeks is possible with updating the services as well as the GEE assets for the MDE after new data are released.
