The input data depicting greenness in the MTBS NDVI Profile Tool is sourced from the USGS Vegetation Drought Response Index (VegDRI) program. Since 2020, the input imagery for VegDRI is EROS Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (eVIIRS)-based NDVI composites derived from the Suomi National Polar-orbiting Partnership (Suomi NPP) VIIRS which is operated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. On July 26, 2022, Suomi NPP VIIRS had an anomaly that resulted in data loss for weeks 32 [8/1 - 8/7], 33 [8/8 - 8/14], and 34 [8/15 - 8/21]. These datasets were not recoverable from Suomi NPP VIIRS which caused the data gap. Currently, the MTBS NDVI Profile Tool uses the same Suomi NPP VIIRS NDVI data provided by VegDRI. Please see the MTBS NDVI Profile Tool Page for more information.
