MTBS 2023, 2024, 2025 Fire: Quarter 2 Mid-release Announcement (July 1, 2026)

Following the 2026 Q1 product release and migration to a new development and distribution system, the mapping team has re-issued earlier map products. Some fire maps experienced data inconsistencies during migration; the issues have been addressed and now affected maps are available. This update improves consistency and problematic fire maps are accessible through the Burn Severity Viewer and Direct Download | Burn Severity Portal.  Since April 7th, the Monitoring Trends in Burn Severity (MTBS) project has released for 221 fires from multiple fire seasons. The total number of mapped products released by the program is now 30,611.
