There have been many changes to naming conventions used in MTBS that were implemented with mapping of the 2011 fires and will be carried forward into the future. Eventually these naming conventions will be retroactively applied to the 1984 to 2010 data record. With the release of the 2011 data record the MTBS web site now contains a mix of the old and the new naming conventions. The MTBS web site will be updated to reflect the new naming conventions once the entire data record (1984 to 2011 and forward) is in the new format. Until then please reference MTBSNamesXwalk.pdf for a crosswalk of the old naming conventions to the corresponding new names.
