MTBS 2022 Fire: Quarterly Release (August 22, 2024)

MTBS has released 348 newly mapped fires in 26 states, including Hawaii and Alaska, from the 2022 fire season. This release concludes the 2022 fire mapping effort. With this product release on https://www.mtbs.gov/ and associated interactive viewer - https://www.mtbs.gov/viewer/, the total number of fires mapped by the program is now 29,583. However, the total number of fires available by the program has been reduced because mapped fires within Flint Hills region of eastern Kansas and Oklahoma have been transferred to the Prairie Fires program.
