New File Naming Convention Applied to All Fires (October 1, 2014)
The new file naming convention, originally announced on July 31, 2013, has now been applied to all fires in the MTBS archive. We are re-releasing all 1984-2010 fires with their new file names.
New Fire Type Added to MTBS Data Record (April 16, 2014)
The MTBS project has mapped over 2,722 discovered fires covering over 11.8 million acres.
Data Refresh Complete(August 30, 2013)
MTBS has refreshed the 1984 through 2010 data record with new and revised mappings for this timeframe. New and revised mappings in this release are identifiable with a release date of 8/31/2013.

File Naming Conventions for MTBS are Changing (July 31, 2013)
There have been many changes to naming conventions used in MTBS that were implemented with mapping of the 2011 fires and will be carried forward into the future. Eventually these naming conventions will be retroactively applied to the 1984 to 2010 data record.
