MTBS Data Access Interruption (August 19, 2013)

Over the next two weeks MTBS will be refreshing the 1984 through 2010 data record with new and revised mappings for this timeframe. New and revised mappings in this upcoming release will be identifiable with a release date of 8/31/2013.

Data Release (July 31, 2013)

MTBS released an additional 1,740 fires to MTBS.gov bringing the total number of fires mapped by the project to 16,685. This data release covers only new fires mapped for the 2011 fire season. With this release the MTBS data record now covers the years 1984 through 2011.

File Naming Conventions for MTBS are Changing (July 31, 2013)

There have been many changes to naming conventions used in MTBS that were implemented with mapping of the 2011 fires and will be carried forward into the future. Eventually these naming conventions will be retroactively applied to the 1984 to 2010 data record.

MTBS Map Services (July 11, 2013)

MTBS is now publishing a WMS for MTBS fire occurrence points, burn area boundaries and burn severity data.

MTBS Data Access Interruption (December 18, 2012)

Due to server maintenance being conducted during the week of December 17th, access to MTBS data products may be temporarily interrupted or unavailable.

PDF Maps and Reporting Summaries Data Updated (November 8, 2012)

A second data anomaly was discovered after the April 2012 web release. The anomaly affected the PDF maps and data accessed through the MTBS Reporting Summaries web page.

2010 MTBS Reporting Summaries Data Updated (June 12, 2012)

A data anomaly was discovered after the April 2012 web release. The anomaly affects only the 2010 data accessed through the MTBS Reporting Summaries web page. The data anomaly has been corrected.

Data Release (April 30, 2012)

MTBS released an additional 1,325 fires to MTBS.gov bringing the total number of fires mapped by the project to 14,944. This data release covers only new fires mapped for the 2010 fire season. With this release the MTBS data record now covers the years 1984 through 2010.

Enhanced Search Features for MTBS Data Analysis (December 29, 2011)

Two additional search features were added to the MTBS Reporting Summaries web page which allows users to further customize tabular and graphical summaries of MTBS data.

Modification to Burn Severity Mosaics (December 29, 2011)

In response to user requests, the regional annual thematic burn severity raster data seamless mosaics broken out by MTBS mapping zone are being replaced with a series of national mosaics.
